CHELMSFORD, MA -- Brooks Automation announced an agreement to sell its Brooks Software division to Applied Materials for $125 million in cash. The software unit is a provider of real-time solutions to enhance productivity in collaborative and complex manufacturing environments. The transaction will allow Brooks Automation to improve its balance sheet and shed a non-core holding in order to focus more on its core semiconductor-related hardware businesses.
